BOARDWALKEMPIRE

On Boardwalk Empire I was the liaison between the conventional art department and the VXF house.  First mapping the physical site on which the set would be built to determine the its orientation and to effectively place the shipping containers that would function as a blue screen to block out the exiting trees and buildings in the distance.  Then translating the art departments 2D hand drafting and graphics into a 3D model. With what would become the build set digitally modeled I worked primarily from illustrated postcards and aerial photographs to develop the physical parameters of the hotels and piers that would form the guide for the VFX team.  As the design came together, we were able to use the 3D model/design for camera pre-visualization long before the physical set was completed.
